hope this is bullshit, about £25 million if we do sell, would rather keep him though , but as always IMWT

Andy Hunter would have mentioned this in his articles last week about Naismith if anything was close in the offing. Unfortunately we do need to sell someone if we can invest anywhere else in the squad but we will need a replacement for Baines at left back first.

Looks like Danijel Pranjic is on the cards.

Well if that the case, so be it. The only we can hope to compete is sell our stock when high and then reinvest in new talent, obviously up and coming would be preferable but we need experience as well. The only clubs immune from this in the league at the moment are Chelsea, Man City & Utd. Modric is on his way out of Spurs, VP at Arsenal, Liverpool & Villa have sold most of the family silver. You have to be smart these days, like Newcastle last year but its important you get a good price.

At 30 though, he would have to be a stop-gap. Also, will Pienaar want to comeback if there's no Baines?

Have to admit, it looks like Baines is on his way, which is a great shame. We could do with finding a new right back pronto as well, if Baines is going. Can't rely on everything coming down the left anymore.

They link up well, but baines was out for good few games and Pienaar still played brilliantly. He doesn't need baines as much as baines needs him to attack. We do need a good left back if Baines is leaving, though.

This is a good point. Baines has never looked good for England because nobody passes him the ball and he's too scared to overlap too much because nobody is covering for him like they do at Everton. Therefore ManUre will have a disappointing purchase, and we will have £20m in the bank, and Baines will come back on loan in January cheers cheers cheers cheers

The Daily Star reports today that alex ferguson hopes to complete the signing of leighton baines for a deal worth 16m by the end of the week, 12m up front with 4m add-ons? ferguson wants baines signed in time to meet up with the United team who travel to south Africa next week.

I do know that within United circles in most respects they are considering this a done deal (and the media might be reflecting this). However I do know that a guy I work with in Germany travels from MAN with me and he was quoting to me a well paced Everton source(his mate) that Everton are accepting that he could go but for the right price. In my mind this is probably the most realistic outcome. What I did not know was that there are twins in the Manure Reserves, one of whom is a centre-half. I understand from my colleague that Moyes is insisting on a full valuation for Baines and a makeweight of the youngster.

I usually shy away from adding to the rumour mill and in fact have only done it once before when I said that the deal for Lescott had been done awaiting end of season. I am forecasting £18m with the lad on loan PLUS add-ons for Baines internaional record etc... and a sell on fee... yada yada...

DM said he would be trading this summer, so Baines going is pretty much as expected as long as he is the only one, and as long as we have the funds to replace him + a.n.other midfielder etc......
If the money is right, DM could do worse than to carry on with his trading.

Baines is valued at £12 million by Everton, who have been made aware of United's interest, but it's thought that Ferguson would only be willing to spend around £8 million to bring the 27-year-old to Old Trafford.

What a sack of shit that article is. It should read 'Baines is valued at £12 million more than the £8 million Alex Ferguson would be willing to spend to bring the 27 year old to Old Trafford'

What Fergie may soon discover is that if you attempt to buy the very best players from clubs that repeatedly finish in the top seven of the league, then they come at a premium. He's seeing that with RVP and he'll see it with Baines too.

I went to the local Audi garage yesterday and offered £50 for a new R8. They told me to "fuck off" but I told them that I will not increase my offer so I am just waiting for them to ring me to say they are willing to accept my offer.
