this unfortunately is true.

Still, with the Bily money and the Rodwell money we'll be able to........ pay down a little bit of the debt.

£48mil the debt stands at, the only think i see happening if there is a wealthy benefactor in waiting, he has been told to reduce the debt before a sale.

Even then that suggests it will be investment and not a takeveover because of the minor debt ( comparatively) we have..

we still made a loss last year despite selling bellefield for 8 million. selling arteta has probably covered our loss for this year, and selling rodwell would enable us to buy new players.

We might take the £20m, but we couldn't afford Pienaar's wages, so we'd have to throw him back to them.

That could very well be true, but with Arteta off the books, it does give us some wiggle room. Granted with Faddy back, that's some of those wages gone already.

I would as well !.. with the 20m we could give some to the bank & still buy a quality partner for Defoe to link with... we have a decent array of midfield players so we can afford to lose Rodders (much as I like him)... imagine our team with 2 strong strikers in it... fuck me we could actually be quite good Shocked

The Blues (Chelsea) are also believed to be in pole position to sign midfielder Jack Rodwell from Everton but want the player's £20m price tag reduced.

Oh go on then. £19,999,995.

Good article in The Sunday Times about him.

However it is worrying that Rodwell mentions the following players, including him received a letter about possible Olympic selection

1. Jags (if not at Euro 2012)
2. Baines (ditto)
3. Barkley
4. Phil Neville (WTF)
5. Jimmy McFadden (WTFF)

I imagine Jags and Baines would be in the Euro squad, which only leaves Barkley (too young to play much surely?), Pip (nice way to finish his career Jack Rodwell - Beckenbauer in err Sky Blue - Page 17 F_whistl ) and Faddy ( Jack Rodwell - Beckenbauer in err Sky Blue - Page 17 F_laugh )

This piece of the interview is interesting

He added: "I'm 21 in March and it does feel like coming of age. I'm no longer a young kid. I've developed as a player and I can't get away with being 'promising' any more.

"It's time to deliver. I'm not a boy, I'm a man now and I've got to step up to the plate. It's time to be an important player.

"Last season I was playing everywhere, on the right, off the front, sometimes on the left. I didn't know what my position was going to be. From the second game this season I've been central, in a two-man midfield, and feel more comfortable.

"I'm not a wide man and not an attacking midfielder as such. I can do it, but I prefer starting deeper, getting forward and getting back. Playing up the field, you're left waiting for the team to get the ball to you. Further back, I can break things up then join in."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/apr/10/jack-rodwell-everton-injury-hamstring

Season over for Jack. Hard to see him getting a game anyway.

David Moyes has advised Jack Rodwell to forget about Euro 2012 after the Everton midfielder's season was effectively ended by the latest in a series of hamstring injuries. The England international suffered a grade one tear to his hamstring in training on Saturday – his sixth such problem of the season – and will visit the German specialist Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt in an attempt to identify the cause of an injury that has plagued him since the friendly victory over Sweden in November.

Rodwell, still only 21, had looked on course for a place in Ukraine and Poland when he impressed for England against Spain and Sweden last year; the final two games of Fabio Capello's reign as England manager. However, an appalling run of hamstring injuries that have restricted the midfielder to five Everton appearances since the Sweden game, and prompted an extensive rehabilitation programme, looks certain to have ended Rodwell's season at club level and destroyed his hopes of making Euro 2012.

Moyes revealed: "Jack has pulled his hamstring again and we are now trying to see when he can go to Germany for treatment. Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt is away this week and because he is the Bayern Munich club doctor he has a very big week next week because of their Champions League semi-final. So trying to get hold of him will be the hardest thing in the short term."

Everton have only five league games remaining this season plus the FA Cup, in which their semi-final is against Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday. Time and Everton's form are against Rodwell reclaiming a first team place before the end of this season and given his persistent problems, Moyes believes the midfielder – who was also in contention to play in the Olympic Games – should focus on returning fully fit for the next campaign in August.

The Everton manager added: "I would advise him to concentrate on next season because Jack has missed six months with hamstring injuries so we have to get him working on whatever work programme they recommend him to do."

That does seem rather dilussional. Not sure what he's trying to accomplish with a statement like that. What's next - Vic is aiming to be the next Prime Minister?

hopefully he's talking himself up to get a move this summer. him moving would probably suit all parties - everton get a fee for an ineffective player, and he might go somewhere else where he may improve. a bit like when carrick left west ham.

I like Rodwell... he's had more than his share of injury & that's what has really delayed his progress as a regular first teamer IMO... not his lack of ability..

It wasn't long ago most people on here were spitting nails because Chavski, Madrid & Manure were considering (alleged) 25-30 Million bids for him..

I hope he goes nowhere & keeps himself fit.. then I think it natural for him to become a regular at Everton... and if he does well & maintains fitness he will become sought after again by the sky clubs... and obviously put himself in the England frame..

It would be typical of us to let him leave for next to nothing & then he matures into a full England international with all the trimming worth 50 Million

I'll be annoyed if he goes while he's so young.. if he can't prove he's fit enough for the modern game than fine ... but I think he still has time to do that
