Would assume Moyes has a replacement lined up if this was the case. Maybe we got the best out of him in 2008 before he got injuried.

Re: 22:Ayegbeni Yakubu - being fed on Chicken!
It could be that he needed this past season and pre-season to get fit, and next season he'll be back to his best. Or it could be that the injury coupled with his age has caught up with him and he's past his best. Either way, I think he's one of the more expendable assets at Everton.

I think its a position Moyes has to identify and bolster with proven talent.
Saha will always have to be nursed through a season and is not a longterm solution.
He possibly sees Vic as an unorthodox outside winger/forward since he will never be prolific. Vaughan is likely to be offloaded and neither Agard or Jutkiewicz look to have the necessary level.
Which leaves us with Yak. Again probably not a longterm solution (been aged 27-35). Maybe its a good time to cash in and go for a solid target man to work off Saha. Have we seen the best of him or will he get back to that level. I doubt there is an emotional attachment for the Yak despite that excellent season in 08.
But Id trust Moyes on this one whether he stays or goes.

Re: 22:Ayegbeni Yakubu - being fed on Chicken!
We've already signed Silva as far as I know who is a striker. It's just a case of whether he is old enough / good enough to go, or needs time. Beckford coming in could be good business if he shines. If not, nothing lost.
Yak and Saha are not our future, so take a chance and sell both. I'd like Moyes to take a risk this window.

The major drawback in that he's a proven goal scorer. With da Silva he might need an adjustment period to settle in, which we don't have if we are to push up the table compared to this past season.Bluejags wrote:Tonteau wrote:It could be that he needed this past season and pre-season to get fit, and next season he'll be back to his best. I hope we will have a competetive starting eleven come August.

Re: 22:Ayegbeni Yakubu - being fed on Chicken!
Would rather keep him to be honest, dont forget the season before last he got over 20 goals which had not happened at Everton since Lineker. Strikers always seem to be a lot more overpriced then most other players and the fact I think we need another striker anyway it doesnt really make sense to sell him especially fif its less then say 10 million because we dont have the funds to invest in two quality strikers, and actually not sure if there is many players out there up to the Yak`s standard who we could get for the money.
Would like Bent but Sunderland wouldn`t sell for less then the 15 million they payed for him especially after the season he just had. Who else is there....The Mail are saying Moyes wants bellamy but never been a fan of him to be honest.

Me neither, the man is a prick! But the fee has been "touted" as £7m... If we can get Bellamy for that and sell Yak for anything close to that it will improve the team! Love him or hate him, Bellamy has talent!Diamond wrote:Would rather keep him to be honest, dont forget the season before last he got over 20 goals which had not happened at Everton since Lineker. Re: 22:Ayegbeni Yakubu - being fed on Chicken!
The problem though is that we might be rather thin on strikers. Saha is a great striker when fit and on form, but those are not certainties. Vic is not an all-out striker to be fair. vaughan is injured too much. Cahill is not an all-out striker either. Beckford, who knows how he will pan out. Which leaves us rather thin up front if Yakubu were to leave. Unless we have another player lined up.Brummie No Mates wrote:Me neither, the man is a prick! But the fee has been "touted" as £7m... Re: 22:Ayegbeni Yakubu - being fed on Chicken!
West Ham made their first signing of the summer yesterday, snapping up Thomas Hitzlsperger from Italian club Lazio. The 28-year-old German international met new Hammers boss Avram Grant and negotiations to seal the deal ahead of growing competition for his signature were held in London on Friday. Hitzlsperger had five offers on the table from Premier League clubs. Tottenham’s pursuit began in February when they discovered he was out of contract in the summer. Everton, Birmingham and Stoke all made tempting offers to the player and his representative. His original desire was to join a side playing in Europe, but he refused to rule out making a move to a club with ambitions that met his own. The former Aston Villa midfielder yesterday ended all speculation by signing a three-year deal.
West Ham are also close to sealing a deal for Everton striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu. The Hammers have tabled a £4million bid for the Nigerian, while the Merseyside club are refusing to do business for less than £6m. Yakubu cost £11.25m from Middlesbrough in 2007. But in the last two seasons he has suffered injuries and scored just nine goals in 35 league appearances. West Ham are expected to up their offer this week in a bid to stop Yakubu demanding a move.

We must be banking on the Yak to get a hat full in the world cup and up his value.
